Four Arab states close their airspace to Qatar

Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates and Egypt have closed their airspace and ports to Qatar, following the announcement this morning of the breakdown of diplomatic relations with that country, which they accuse of supporting terrorism. States indicate that they take the decision "in order to preserve their national security".

Qatari diplomats had 48 hours to leave the four countries. The four countries have taken turns during the early hours of Monday to announce the breaking of diplomatic relations with Qatar, accusing it of "supporting terrorism", which includes al-Qaeda, the Islamic State (IS) group and the fraternity of The Muslim Brothers.
