May bad for rural tourism: reserves fell 45%

The month of May has not been good for rural tourism. Despite having a national holiday on Monday (May 1) and two more holidays in Madrid (May 2 and 15), bookings in rural houses fell by 45.85% compared to the same month in 2016, according to the data Of Clubrural.

One of the causes that explain this sharp decline is the closeness of Holy Week, a period that many Spaniards already took advantage of to make an escape.

The fall in reserves has been widespread in almost all communities although Andalusia has taken the palm

The most requested provinces last month were Madrid (15.91%), Barcelona (12.31%), Girona (6.58%), Avila (4.78%), Asturias (4.21%), Cantabria 4.07%), Toledo (4.02%), Segovia (3.55%), Tarragona (2.94%) and Malaga (2.84%).
